Shredded
Happy Monday blog friends, I hope you all had a marvellous weekend? Mine was really enjoyable and I was sad to see the end of it. Saturday I spent most of the day in pj’s curled up with a book that I have been glued to for the last week. I was suffering with DOMS from my workout on Thursday so wasn’t in the mood for doing much else. The husband and I also watched Back to the Future 3 – he was most disgusted recently to discover that I had never seen any of them so he got me to watch them all last week. I gotta say I really enjoyed them all and can’t believe I never wanted to watch them. What classic film have you never seen before?
Some of my food from the weekend:
Delicious porridge with Greek yoghurt, fresh berries & nuts…
Cheesy omelette with a side salad…
Steak, curly fries and grilled red pepper, courgette, mushroom & onions…
Muesli with Greek yoghurt, fresh strawberries & pecans – yes, I actually didn’t fancy porridge! Shocker!
Yesterday lunch time, we were invited to my folks’ for Sunday lunch which was divine. I didn’t photograph it but ate roast beef, 2 small roast potatoes, a teeny bit of mashed potato, steamed broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and roasted carrots, parsnips and red onion. After lunch my folks came round to our house to watch the football along with my brother and his girlfriend. They have been so kind to give me their old laptop so now I can sit in my armchair and surf whilst I watch tv or chat to the husband. It’s ace!
After the footie, I was badly influenced by my family as they were going to the chip shop to get chips – eek! The husband, Mini JAG and I shared a bag and made some chip butties – it was delicious and not too indulgent seeing as we shared a bag between us rather than having a bag each!
I was umming and ahing today as to whether to hit the gym for weights or cardio. I decided upon weights until I realised that it would bugger up my plans for the week and I would only be able to fit in two sessions. It was pouring with rain as I walked home from work so I was pretty miserable when I got in and didn’t fancy walking the 20 minutes in the rain just for cardio. I therefore decided to get my 30 Day Shred DVD out and give it a try. I ordered it some time ago before I moved house and have been waiting for the perfect moment to give it a go. I don’t class myself as a beginner but still started on the recommended Level 1 and all I’m going to say is OH.MY.GOD! It’s seriously challenging. I don’t really lift weights for endurance, I prefer a heavy weight for less reps and I lift explosively so to say I found 1.5kg hand weights a struggle is kinda embarrassing. However, lifting them continuously for a minute at a time is so different from what I am used to. I do think I’m going to really enjoy incorporating this somehow into my routine though! It’s also really good knowing my workout was over and done with in 20 minutes yet I was breathless and soaked in sweat at the end of it.
Before I go, I gotta have a huge moan about a stupid advert that is driving me frickin’ mental at the moment! Dettol handsfree soap dispenser – never touch a germy soap dispenser ever again. How fecking pointless is this? You’re about to wash your ruddy hands – what does it matter if you touch the frickin’ hand pump?!? AAARRRGGGHHHHH!
What advert on TV irritates you?
Catch you all later for a food update and Reader’s Request.
