Do you glow?

Fat Loss Products

This is what I looked like after my body attack class.  I always go bright red and pour with sweat.  I used to get really jealous of people that could exercise and not break a sweat and look as good when they walk out as when they walked in.  Nowadays, I feel proud of my glow and the sweat pouring down my back as I know I’ve worked as hard as I can.

Tonight was no exception – body attack kicked my ass tonight, but in a good way.  Unfortunately, my left knee is really hurting still from using the leg press last week so I had to stop a couple of times as it felt like it was going to give way.  I’m going to rest it and ice it and see if it makes a difference – fingers crossed!

I was disappointed to wake up this morning and see it was still dark – Autumn really is here.  I love Autumn and love the nights drawing in but really dislike waking up when it’s still dark – nothing beats waking up to natural light.  I got one of those natural sunlight alarm clocks but have no idea where it is since we moved – I have to find it out!

One thing that got me out of bed was this bad boy…

Delicious mocha porridge made with coconut milk and topped with Greek yoghurt, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries and flaked almonds.

Ready for a close up…

Happy tummy!

Mid morning I had my usual skimmed latte and as I was a bit peckish, I snacked on two unpictured cheddar babybel light – if you haven’t tried these you simply MUST!  I’ve looked everywhere for the goats cheese version but have had no luck so far – boooooo!

I got home to see my poor kitty had not improved any and booked her in to see the vet tomorrow evening – I hate it when my family (yes, she is part of my family) are ill, I feel so useless.

Lunch was a wholewheat wrap spread with sundried tomato & olive hummus and filled with salad leaves, kidney beans, ham & cheese…

I also had a serving of delicious sweet cherry tomatoes…

And speaking of tomatoes, look what the husband came home proudly bearing…

He and his colleague bought a tomato plant each and have been competing to see who grew the first tomato.  He came home saying “Look Jo, I’m a proper hunger gatherer, I grew you two tomatoes” hahaha – bless him!  His colleague is still to see anything grow!

I planned lamb kebabs for dinner and fetched some diced lamb out of the freezer in preparation.  Unfortunately, by the time it had defrosted and came to marinade it, I noticed there just wasn’t enough for all three of us.  Me being the lovely kind soul that I am forfeited my kebabs so that the husband and Mini JAG could have them.  I stopped to decide what I really fancied to eat and opted for…

Dippy boiled eggs with toast soldiers – I’m just a big kid at heart!

Do you recall me recently posting about being asked to write an article for Funky Raw magazine?  Well, I submitted my article the other day and it should be posted in either the coming issue or the one after that.  I wrote an introduction post about myself and my journey to good health and some of my past problems with food.  I will be submitting another article next time which will be more in depth and about a specialist subject.  When the article is out, I will give you guys a shout.

I came across an awesome video not so long ago about the Palaeolithic Diet.  For those of you not familiar with this way of eating, it’s about eating as our ancestors would before the agricultural revolution.  Hunter gatherers would eat a diet that consisted of meat, vegetables, fresh fruit and seafood – no grains or dairy produce.  Whilst I don’t follow this type of diet and nor do I recommend anyone else follow this kind of diet, the video certainly struck a chord with me about how our eating habit have changed over the last 10,000 years.  It certainly encouraged me to go back to basics and also confirmed that my decision to eat only free range (and organic when I can manage it) meat and locally produced fruit and vegetables was the right one.

Have a look and see what you think…

Do you eat grains and dairy produce? I recently noticed that dairy produce when eaten in excess plays havoc with my stomach and gives me some very unpleasant side effects :-(  I have stopped making my morning porridge with cow’s milk and instead prefer to use either coconut, almond, rice or oat milk.  I do consume grains though as I don’t think I could give up my oats, brown rice or quinoa.  I rarely eat pasta as I find it bloats me but I do indulge occasionally.
